Pima County Sups pick selection committee for Patterson’s replacement

The Pima County Board of Supervisors met this morning to begin the replacement process of Representative Daniel Patterson. The Supervisors selected their appointees to a five-person citizen panel charged with choosing three possible non-party-affiliated replacements for Patterson.

The panel has to appoint at least three independents for the consideration of the Board.

The supervisors appointed two Democrats, two Independents and one Republican.  The Board selected Democrats Tom Prezelski and State Senator Victor Soltero, Republican Lou-Ann Preble, independents, Kristin Almquist and Julee Dawson.

Three of the appointees have or had political positions. Victor Soltero is a State Senator for District 29. Kristin Almquist, was Governor Napolitano’s southern Arizona office director.  Tom Prezelski lost his seat in the State House in the Democratic primary race that Patterson won. Preble was a House member from 1993 to 2000.

The panel is expected to meet on either Thursday or Friday, and will submit their three possible replacements by 3 p.m. Friday.  Anyone interested in the position must send a letter and résumé to the board of supervisors by the end of business Wednesday.
