The Arizona Latino Republican Association President, Reymundo Torres swore in its newest chapter’s officers yesterday. President Pat Sexton, Vice-President Maria Apodaca, and Secretary Sergio Arellano took their oaths before an overflow crowd.
ALRA’s growing influence is evident in the fact that 4 of the 29 Arizona delegates to the Republican National convention in Florida this summer, are ALRA members. ALRA is a conservative Latino organization which is rapidly becoming a national organization, claiming members across the country.
Pleased with the success achieved in Tucson, ALRA Executive President Torres stated, “This event is a point of immense pride for all of ALRA’s members as we have just realized a long-held dream of providing a home for the conservative Latinos living in or near the Old Pueblo.
As we are now a permanent fixture in the City of Tucson I am confident that we will be able to replicate this Chapter’s success in many other cities across the state and, eventually, across the country.”
The three officers were sworn in placing their hands on Bibles that President Pat Sexton’s husband and sons took on their tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Republican candidate for CD8, Jesse Kelly, stopped by to offer his congratulations to the new officials. He was welcomed by congressional candidate Gabby Saucedo Mercer, who hosted the event at her headquarters on the Southside of Tucson.
