The Sunflower, Gladiator, Bull Flat, and Elwood fires combined have consumed over 32,000 acres in north central Arizona.
The Sunflower Fire has grown to 16,115 acres. It is 43 percent contained. Over 360 firefighters are working to contain the blaze which is burning 21 miles south of Payson and 30 miles north of Mesa.
The Gladiator Fire has grown into a 14,184-acre blaze and destroyed six structures since it began May 13. What began as a house fire in the town of Crown King is now threatening more than 400 homes in Crown King, Battle Flat, Turkey Creek and Pine Flat.
A spokesman for Prescott National Forest said that six people have been injured from the fire.
The Bull Flat Fire is burning on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. The fire began with a lightning strike. It has consumed over 2,000 acres. The blaze is 95 percent contained.
The Elwood Fire is burning on the in the San Carlos Indian Reservation. 1,300 acres have been burned. The blaze is 95 percent contained.
