PETA offers reward for Colorado City kitten death

A kitten was dropped into a vertical pipe containing wet cement on May 31 and left to struggle as the concrete dried around him on May 31 in Colorado City.  Despite efforts by rescuers to cut the pipe out of the ground and carefully chisel it open around the kitten, he later died.

Police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the kitten’s death. PETA is adding a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime.

“Animal abusers are cowards,” says PETA Manager Martin Mersereau. “They take their issues out on the most defenseless beings available to them. Area residents have good reason to be concerned. According to law-enforcement agencies and leading mental-health professionals, perpetrators of cruel acts against animals are often repeat offenders who pose a serious threat to all animals—including humans.”

Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact PETA at 757-622-7382, extension 8037. For more information, please visit PETA.org.
