Mohave County offices receive suspicious letters

The Mohave County Administrative building received a total of 11 envelopes addressed to assorted county management and leadership,on Monday morning, July 16. Each of these suspicious envelopes contained a small plastic bag that contained an unknown substance.

The envelopes, post marked out of Phoenix, were addressed to Mohave County’s mailing address. In cooperation with the Mohave County Bioterrorism Defense Coordinator and the AZ Department of Public Heath the envelopes and unknown substance were sent to Phoenix for analysis and testing.

On July 17, it was confirmed that the envelopes contained a non-toxic, non dangerous unknown substance. Investigators with the Kingman Police Department are working the investigation in cooperation with the AZ Department of Public Health, US Postal Inspectors Office and the Mohave County Bioterrorism Defense Coordinator’s Office. The envelopes were fairly nondescript. The motive behind the letters is unknown.
