Tucson Police seek information in road rage shooting

The Tucson Police Department was alerted to a shots fired incident that occurred in the vicinity of East 22nd Street and South Santa Rita on the evening of October 4, 2012. Officers responded to the area and located a white pickup truck near the intersection of East 22nd Street and South Santa Rita. The truck was occupied by two adult males, one of which was suffering from possible gunshot wounds.

Tucson Fire Department emergency medical personal responded to the location of the vehicle. They transported David Uribe, age 22, to a local hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment.
Unfortunately, Mr. Uribe succumbed to his injuries on the evening of October 8, 2012 and was pronounced deceased.

Detectives from the Homicide Unit, the Aggravated Assault Unit, and the Night Detective Unit learned that the white pickup truck had been traveling westbound on East 22nd Street at approximately 7:30 p.m. on October 4, 2012. While at the intersection of East 22nd Street and South Tucson Boulevard, the occupants of a red passenger car began to engage in an altercation with the occupants of the white pickup truck. The altercation continued as both vehicles traveled westbound on East 22nd Street. At one point, both vehicles ended up in a neighborhood north of East 22nd Street.

The detectives received information that shots were fired from the red passenger car towards the white pickup truck near the intersection of East 21st Street and South Highland. Another volley of shots was fired near the intersection of East 21st Street and South Mountain. The red passenger vehicle fled in an unknown direction shortly after the second volley of gunshots. The white pickup truck traveled a short distance further before ultimately coming to a stop in the vicinity of East 22nd Street and South Santa Rita.

The Tucson Police Department seeks public assistance with providing further details regarding the red passenger car and its occupants. Anyone who was in the area of East 22nd Street (between South Tucson Boulevard and South Park Avenue) at approximately 7:30 p.m. on October 4, 2012 may have seen the vehicles and/or altercation.
