AZDOC inmate crashes through fense in escape attempt

In October 17, at about 8:40 a.m., AZDOC (Arizona Department of Corrections) inmate Jimmy Odom, assaulted a contract employee and stole a delivery truck. He then drove through the Unit’s interior fence and was stopped by the Unit’s perimeter fence.

An AZDOC officer immediately restrained inmate Odom. Beyond the Cimarron perimeter is the Complex’s double-perimeter fence that is patrolled by armed officers.

Odom, sentenced out of Coconino County, is serving a Life sentence for 1st Degree Murder, Burglary, Armed Robbery and Kidnapping convictions.

The Unit remains locked down and the incident is under investigation by the Department.
