Phoenix employees have raised more than $1 million for the Community Service Fund Drive (CSFD), the city’s annual workplace-giving campaign.
Employees contributed $1,079,307 through payroll pledges and fund-raisers to CSFD, which supports Valley of the Sun United Way, the Environmental Fund for Arizona and other charitable organizations.
“I am amazed at the generosity of all of our hard-working city staff,” Phoenix City Manager David Cavazos said. “The time and money they’ve given to this year’s drive is incredible and will go to the people in our community who need it most.”
Since 2001, city employees have raised more than $14.5 million to support more than 350 health and human services agencies and environmental programs that serve the community.
City departments sponsored myriad fund-raisers during the drive, ranging from bake sales to a jet pull at Sky Harbor Airport to a City Hall stair-climb challenge. Most of the donations came through pay-roll deductions, with an assist from city retirees.
Kweilin Waller with the Neighborhood Services Department chaired the campaign, and Laura Neal with Human Resources is the coordinator.
The city will celebrate the successful campaign at the annual CSFD Awards Ceremony on Nov. 28 at the Rio Salado Audubon Center, 3131 S. Central Ave.
