Tucson Constable finds dead man while serving eviction notice

On the morning of November 28, 2012, a Tucson area Constable had gone to a residence in the 1900 block of West Nava in order to serve the residents with eviction notice. The Constable discovered that the front door to the residence was unlocked, and upon opening it, found 67-year old William Salamonsen lying inside of the house.

The Constable retreated from the residence and immediately contacted the Tucson Police Department to report the incident and ask for assistance.

Tucson Police Department Homicide Unit detectives responded to assist with the investigation due to the fact that the cause of death was unknown, and Mr. Salamonsen had obvious signs of trauma on his body. The other resident of the house was located and interviewed in conjunction with the investigation. He has been identified as 55-year old David Gallagher. The detectives also examined and collected evidence at the scene. The Office of the Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on Mr. Salamonsen. It was determined that his injuries were consistent with a homicide, and his death was ruled a homicide.

Mr. Gallagher was ultimately arrested for 1 count of Second Degree Murder, a felony offense, as a result of the investigation. He has been transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.
