Grupero music superstar Rivera feared dead in place crash

Jenni Rivera, grupero music superstar, is believed to have been aboard a U.S. registered Learjet 25, which crashed in northern Mexico on Sunday. “There is nothing recognizable, neither material nor human” in the wreckage,” Transportation and Communications Minister Gerardo Ruiz Esparza told the Televisa network.

While authorities have not yet confirmed her death, Esparza said that “everything points toward” it being the Learjet carrying Rivera and six other people from Monterrey en route to Toluca, Mexico.

The Ministry of Communications and Transport, through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), initiated investigations into the alleged fall N345MC registered aircraft owned by Starwood Management. The Learjet left Monterrey at 03:15 pm and was bound for Toluca airport. The aircraft lost contact with the radar at a distance of 61.8 miles from Monterrey and coordinates 24,45,50 N 99,52,18 W.

It began the search protocol at 4:40 a.m. with the help of two helicopters and an airplane.

Among the missing pilots are Miguel Perez and Alejandro Torres and passengers, whose name was recorded as: Jenny Rivera Dolores Saavedra, Alberto Rivera Saavedra, Mario Macias, N. Jacob and Gerardo Llenares

The Ministry of Communications and Transport reiterates that it will continue the course of the investigation.

Riveras was known as the “Diva de la Banda.” She was best known for her songs “De Contrabando” and “La Gran Senora.” Riveras won two Billboard Mexican Music Awards: Female Artist of the Year and Banda Album of the Year for “Joyas prestadas: Banda.”

Riveras had her won reality shows “I Love Jenni” and “Jenni Rivera Presents: Chiquis and Raq-C” and her daughter’s “Chiquis ‘n Control.”

According to the AP, Rivera had given a concert before thousands of fans in Monterrey on Saturday night. After the concert she gave a press conference during which she spoke of her emotional state following her recent divorce from former Major League Baseball pitcher Esteban Loaiza, who played for teams including the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers.

La Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes reitera que continuará con el curso de las investigaciones.
