10 year old drives into SV Circle K

On Thursday, January 31, at approximately 4:35 p.m., officers from the Sierra Vista Police Department responded to a non-injury accident involving a vehicle crashing into the Circle K located at 95 Rainbow Way.

The passenger, Linda Morales 31 years old from Sierra Vista, allowed her 10 year old daughter to drive a 1999 Plymouth Breeze from the 700 block of Blue Horizon to the Circle K. Upon arrival, the 10 year old juvenile stated she stepped on the gas instead of the brake and crashed into the store. None of the passengers of the vehicle or patrons in the store were injured.

The store front had excessive damage to the front doors and support beams. Per Sierra Vista Police Department procedures when a structure suffers extensive damage a City of Sierra Vista building inspector is called to assess the damage. Upon inspection, the business was deemed unsafe for occupation and closed for maintenance. Circle K’s maintenance crews worked throughout the night and had the damage repaired enough to open the store at 6:00 a.m. Friday morning.

Morales was cited and released on scene for: Allowing an Unauthorized Minor to Drive.
