On February 8, a woman told Pima County Sheriff’s Department volunteers that she had possibly located a human body in the desert area not far from an airplane crash site. Tuesday those remains were identified as Jeffrey Scott Appel (DOB 08/06/65).
During the investigation obvious signs of trauma were found on the victim. Appel’s body was found wrapped in a blanket just east of the roadway in the desert area.
The Homicide Unit is continuing their investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call 911 or 88-Crime.
