The Tucson Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man, who attempted to commit a bank robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank located at 802 West Ajo Way. The incident occurred on the afternoon of March 11, 2013 at approximately 2:57 p.m.
The suspect entered the bank and approached the teller counter. He passed the teller a note, which appeared to imply that the male would harm the teller if she failed to give him money. A bullet-resistant barrier protects the teller counter at this bank. As such, instead of giving the male any money, the teller announced that a robbery was in progress and ducked down behind the counter. The male suspect quickly left the bank at that point. He was not given any money, and no one was injured during the course of the incident. Witnesses indicated that the male was seen getting into a newer model (2006 to 2010), silver colored passenger car, which left immediately after the attempted robbery incident.
The suspect was described as a Caucasian or Hispanic male in his mid-20s to mid-30s. He was further described as being approximately 5’07” to 5’08” tall, weighing approximately 185 pounds, with dark hair. He was last seen wearing a dark long-sleeved t-shirt, tan pants, and dark sunglasses.
Anyone having information about his identity or whereabouts is urged to call 911 or 88-Crime.
