Navy Special Warfare CPO dies in service

Chief Cryptologic Technician (SW) Christian Michael Pike, 31, of Peoria, a chief with Naval Special Warfare Command died from his combat injuries March 13 in Landstuhl, Germany, the Defense Department reported.

Chief Pike was injured March 10 while conducting stability operations in Maiwand District, Afghanistan. Chief Pike enlisted in August 2001 and was assigned to Naval Special Warfare Support Activity 1.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Friday in honor of Pike.
