CBP agents seize heroin, meth worth $260k

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations officers at the Nogales Port arrested a 21-year-old man last week for attempting to smuggle a combined 18-plus pounds of black tar heroin and methamphetamine into the United States.

Benjamin Fornes, of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, was referred for inspection of his Toyota SUV. During the inspection, CBP officers found almost 15 pounds of heroin and nearly four pounds of methamphetamine inside the vehicle’s spare tire.

The drugs and vehicle were seized. Fornes was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
