On January 2013, an online service provider notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that someone had used their services to upload child pornography. NCMEC contacted the Tucson Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, who initiated an investigation.
The investigation led them to a residence in the 9700 block of East Bennett Drive. On May 2, 2013, detectives served a search warrant at the residence. They located at least three images of child pornography in the home. Detectives arrested 28-year old Michael Ray Hill. He was booked into the Pima County Jail for 3 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
The investigation revealed that Mr. Hill had been communicating with underage boys online. Detectives are currently working on identifying those victims. Anyone with information is urged to contact 911 or 88-CRIME.
The Tucson Police Department urges parents to continually monitor their children’s Social Media Accounts. Knowing and monitoring your child’s online friends, connections and conversation is crucial for their safety.
The Tucson Department embraces its role in protecting children in our community and will continue all efforts to identify and apprehend child predators.
