On the late evening of June 1, 2013, Tucson Police Department officers responded to a report of a motorcycle collision that had occurred in the area of South Alvernon Way and East 31st Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that the motorcyclist was suffering from life threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
Tucson Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded and transported 45-year old Javier Rascon to a local trauma center for additional medical evaluation and treatment. Unfortunately, Mr. Rascon succumbed to his injuries while at the hospital and was pronounced deceased on the early morning of June 2, 2013.
Detectives from the Traffic Investigations Unit learned that Mr. Rascon had been riding a 2001 Honda CF4 southbound on South Alvernon Way. Near the intersection with East 31st Street, Mr. Rascon lost control of the motorcycle and collided with a guardrail. He was thrown from the motorcycle. Mr. Rascon was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, and it did not appear that excessive speed was a factor in the collision. It also did not appear that any other vehicles were involved in the collision.
