Megan Spielman has been appointed as the Superior Court Clerk of La Paz County. Spielman will replace outgoing La Paz County Superior Court Clerk Sheri Newman, whose retirement is effective June 30, 2013.
Spielman has been the Director of Victim Services for the La Paz County Attorney’s Office since 2009. In this role, she advocates on behalf of crime victims to ensure their rights are understood, upheld and protected. In conjunction with this position, Spielman has completed more than 230 hours of specialized training and certification in Arizona law and compliance issues.
As Director, her responsibilities included: supervising, training and mentoring staff; authoring a Policy and Procedures Manual relating to victims’ rights for the County Attorney’s Office; working with the Arizona Attorney General’s Office to standardize correspondence and post-conviction notification requests, ensuring compliance and protecting the rights of crime victims; and reconciling and resolving budget issues within her department.
Governor Brewer appointed Spielman, who currently volunteers for a crisis center, where she helps prepare meals for residents. She also has assisted with the Miss La Paz County Pageant, and has been involved with the Parker Rotary and Parker Chamber of Commerce.
