Former Tucson Police officer charged with computer tampering

Former Tucson Police Department Officer, Andrea Middleton, was indicted on 3-counts of Computer Tampering, a Class 6 felony offense, on the afternoon of June 14, 2013. A criminal investigation as well as an administrative investigation was initiated after allegations came to light, indicating that Middleton had engaged in activities believed to be in violation of the Department’s policies.

A department member was made aware of the activity that was possibly criminal in nature and brought it to the attention of personnel working for the Office of Internal Affairs. In addition, two adult females also contacted the Office of Internal Affairs to provide information related to their knowledge of the same activity. The information was initially brought forward in November of 2012.

Middleton resigned from her position at the Tucson Police Department on the afternoon of June 13, 2013.

She was hired on September 29, 2005. Ms. Middleton had been placed on paid administrative leave in November of 2012, while personnel from the Office of Internal Affairs conducted the criminal and administrative investigations. The criminal case was presented to the Pima County Attorney’s Office and later to the Pima County Grand Jury. The administrative investigation is still on going.
