A 47-year-old local man was arrested earlier today for attempting to smuggle nearly 30 pounds of heroin into the United States.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers referred Gustavo Garcia-Siqueiros for an inspection of his Ford truck when he attempted to re-enter the United States. A narcotics detection canine then alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle’s gas tank, where officers located 12 packages of heroin.
The drugs, valued at $403,920, and truck were seized. Garcia was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
