Mario Bayne, founder and president of the nonprofit organization Career Concepts for Youth (CCY), was appointed chairman of the Phoenix Human Relations Commission (HRC). Since 1994, CCY has held a position on the Education and Excellence Commission’s Phoenix Education Partnership honor roll.
In a statement released Tuesday, City officials said that “Bayne will utilize his 22 years of experience in building public, nonprofit and business partnerships to respond to the needs of the Phoenix community in his role as the HRC chairman.”
“I’m very humbled about my new role as we approach the 50th anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington. I believe the constitutional right to assemble and petition the government is directly connected to the importance of inclusion and justice for all. I pledge to create additional avenues for the residents of Phoenix to address their concerns of inequality,” said Bayne.
Some of his other affiliations include State of Arizona Department of Education, Parent and Community Involvement Planning Committee, March of Dimes Board of Directors, Phoenix Youth and Education Commission, Phoenix Suns Charities, Arizona Republic Parent’s Advisory Panel and Valley Youth Leadership Selection Committee.
