Border Patrol boat involved in Colorado River crash

On July 5, 2013, at approximately 7:35 p.m., the Yuma County Sheriff Office investigated a boating accident with injuries involving two vessels that occurred on the Colorado River at the Clear Lake Inlet.

One of the vessels involved in the accident was a United Stated Border Patrol vessel on patrol along the Colorado River. They reported no injuries on that vessel.

The second vessel involved in the accident was a private vessel and was occupied by seven subjects. Three subjects from that vessel were transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for injuries; one was later flown to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix for life threatening injuries. That subject is in stable but critical condition.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking witnesses to the accident to call the Sheriff’s Office at (928) 783-4427.
