The Tucson City Council voted unanimously to approve changes to the policy for providing water service outside the city limits. The new policy will give priority to developers who invest $5 million in new or expanded facilities.
The move was made to lure rural areas eventually into the City.
The City previously limited who was eligible for a water line extension. The new policy expands the service area. The policy will also establish a review board to hear appeals over Tucson Water denials.
