Celebrate 9th Annual Native American Family Wellness Day

On August 24, 2013, local American Indian organizations will host the 9th Annual Native American Family Wellness Day. Our celebration of family wellness is aligned with the importance of balancing lifestyles and promoting healthy families.

The 9th Annual Native American Family Wellness Day will be a FREE event. The theme is, “Strong Natives; Honoring Traditions Through Health and Wellness.” August 24, 2013 from 7am – 3pm.San Miguel High School, 6601 S. San Fernando Ave., Tucson, AZ 85756 (Near Valencia Rd and 12th Ave).

The day will start with a Just Move It 5K Fun Run/Walk. Keynote Speaker: Patricia Michaels from Project Runway, and Master of Ceremonies: Steve Saffron.
There will be physical activities and interactive health booths for youth, adults, and elders.

A collaboration with Tucson Indian Center, Pascua Yaqui Tribe, Pascua Yaqui Health Department, Tohono O’odham Nation Department of Health and Human Services, Tohono O’odham Nation, University of Arizona Mel & Enid College of Public Health, Healthy O’odham Promotion Program, ReActivate-New and Used Active Wear, Tucson Urban Indian Community, and Indian Health Service.

The Indian Health Service mission is to raise the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indian and Alaska Natives to the highest level.
