Pedestrian killed on Tucson’s southside

On the night of August 25, 2013, Tucson Police Department officers responded to the area of West 22nd Street and South Osborne Avenue regarding a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.  The pedestrian, an adult female,  died as a result of her injuries while at the hospital and was pronounced deceased late in the evening.

The initial investigation indicated the pedestrian female was crossing West 22nd Street just east of the intersection with South Osborne Avenue. The pedestrian was walking southbound across the roadway and was not in a crosswalk. A 2011 Chevrolet Impala was traveling eastbound on West 22nd Street in the curb lane. The vehicle struck the pedestrian as she was crossing the road. After the collision, the driver of the collision immediately stopped and remained at the scene.

The preliminary findings indicated that the driver of the vehicle appeared to have been traveling at approximately the posted speed limit, and there was no indication that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The driver was not cited as a result of the collision.
