Henry “Hank” Gooday, Jr. was appointed this week to the Pinal County Superior Court by Governor Jan Brewer. The appointment of Gooday to the Pinal County Superior Court was made to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Boyd Johnson.
Gooday has worked for the Pinal County Superior Court since 2006 and has been a Court Commissioner since 2010. As a Court Commissioner, he presided over initial appearances and Early Disposition Court. Gooday also has been a Judge Pro Tempore, Justice of the Peace Pro Tempore and an Initial Appearance Special Master in Pinal County.
Previously, Gooday served as Court Solicitor for the Gila River Indian Community Court (2005-’07). He also has worked for the Office of the Legal Defender (2002-’05) and Maricopa County Attorney’s Office (2001-’02); was an adjunct professor at Western International University (2000-’10); and has practiced with the Maricopa County Public Defender’s Office (1999-’01). Prior to his legal career, Gooday formed and operated an environmental consulting firm, S.E.C./Keter Consultants, in Illinois (1988-1996).
Gooday is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Additionally, he has been a member of the Florence Unified School District Board (2006-’07) and Vice President of its governing board (2006). He was awarded the Total Board Boardsmanship Award for his service by the Arizona School Board Association (2007).
Gooday graduated from Nova Southeastern University School of Law (1999). He received his B.A. in Liberal Arts (1986) and M.H.S. in Health Sciences and the Law (1987) from Governors State University.
