Cochise County K-9 Officer Henry sniffs out nearly $12K

officer-henryOn the night of October 31, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was requested to assist the Arizona Department of Public Safety with a traffic stop on US Highway 80 near Douglas Arizona.

The occupants of the vehicle consented a to search the vehicle with a Sheriff’s Office certified drug sniffing dog, “Henry.” Upon a sniff of the vehicle, “Henry” provided a conditioned response and a search of the vehicle then resulted in locating approximately $12,000 in US currency.

The money was seized under Federal forfeiture laws and the investigation is being continued by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.

“Henry” is a fifteen month old Belgium Malinois and he and his trainer just graduated from their six week K-9 school in October.

Sheriff Dannels said today, “We are excited that our K-9 team, beginning with Henry, is off to such a great start and we are looking forward to our other handlers and K-9 partners graduating and adding to the team!”
