Motorists on Interstate 40 will soon be traveling over new and improved lanes over the BNSF railroad in Kingman, and just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
The new lanes will open on Wednesday, Nov. 27, on the $3.9 million bridge improvement project, which began earlier this year.
The project includes newly paved roadway and full bridge deck replacements in the eastbound and westbound lanes (mileposts 52-54), new guardrail and lighting.
Construction crews will return in the spring of 2014 to apply the top layer of pavement when the weather is ideal for this type of work.
