On Dec. 11, 2013, Carl Carlson, 46, of Teesto, Arizona, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge James A. Teilborg to a total of 300 months in prison, followed by a lifetime term of supervised release. Carlson is also required to register as a sex offender in compliance with federal, state and local laws.
In January 2011, the Federal Bureau of Investigation received a report that a Navajo man was in possession of photographs of child pornography. Through further investigation, agents determined that Carlson had sexually assaulted several juvenile victims while they were under his care on the Navajo Nation Indian Reservation. Carlson took photographs while he sexually assaulted the children. He had these images developed and kept them until they were discovered and turned over to law enforcement.
Carlson pleaded guilty on May 15, 2013, to Production of Child Pornography and Abusive Sexual Conduct.
