Reckart elected to serve as 2014 Citizens Clean Elections Commission Chair

clean-eelctionsThe Citizens Clean Elections Commission, a state agency that administers the Citizens Clean Elections Act, announced that Timothy J. Reckart has been elected to serve as the 2014 Commission Chairman.

Reckart, a Republican from Pima County, is a partner in the Tucson law firm of Rusing, Lopez and Lizardi, PLLC. Reckart graduated from Salpointe Catholic High and holds a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from MIT, a master’s degree in nuclear engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a law degree and MBA from Stanford University. Reckart was appointed to serve on the Commission by Gov. Jan Brewer for a term that expires Jan. 31, 2015.

Commissioners are appointed to serve a five-year term and are responsible for implementing the Citizens Clean Elections Act. The chair is charged with directing the activities of the Commission, and serves as chief spokesman on behalf of Commission activities.

Commissioners administer provisions of the Citizens Clean Elections Act and develop rules and policies. The non-partisan Commission is comprised of commissioners from across the state, appointed by top elected officials of opposing parties.

Current Commissioners are Louis Hoffman (D-Maricopa County), Thomas Koester (I-Pima County), Mitchell Laird (R-Maricopa County) and Steve Titla (D-Gila County).
