phx-plice-photoOn Tuesday, December 31, 2013, shortly after 2:00 pm, Phoenix Police Officer Scott Sefranka was shot and critically injured in the line of duty after confronting an armed robbery suspect, who fled from the scene at 2500 North 44th Street.

Officer Sefranka had observed the suspect vehicle fleeing the scene and followed as it continued eastbound on East Thomas Road, where it eventually collided with a northbound vehicle at the Phoenix/Scottsdale border at North 56th Street.
