Flight stopped over in Tucson, crashed in Aspen

The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that 1 person has died and two were injured in the crash of a private jet in Aspen, Colorado. The flight originated in Toluca, Mexico, with a stopover in Tucson.

The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased co-pilot as Sergio Emilio Carranza Brabata, age 54, of Mexico.

The two injured men are also reportedly Mexican pilots, according to the Daily Mail. They were rushed to Aspen Valley Hospital, with one in a critical condition.

The plane crashed at 12:23 p.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office. The Bombardier Challenger 600 ran off the right side of the runway and burst into flames after it flipped over and landed on its top.

Burchetta told reporters that the injuries were traumatic in nature. He explained that the victims were not burned.

The plane departed Tucson at 10:04 a.m.
