On January 04, 2014, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Tucson Police officers responded to a report of a vehicle collision on East Tanque Verde near East Catalina Highway. Upon arrival, officers located a 2008 Scion and a 2011 Dodge Ram, which had been involved in a serious collision. The driver of the 2008 Scion was transported to a local area hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver of the 2011 Dodge Ram was not injured.
Detectives from the Traffic Investigation Unit responded to the scene to continue the investigation. They were able to determine that the Scion was traveling westbound on Tanque Verde in the left hand turn lane. The Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound in the inside lane also on Tanque Verde. The traffic lights were green for eastbound and westbound traffic. The Scion made a left turn in front of the Dodge Ram. The Dodge Ram struck the front right portion of the Scion. The driver of the Scion was not wearing a seat belt. No one was cited, and alcohol was not a factor in this collision.
On January 6, 2014, at 3:59 p.m. the driver of the Scion, a 25- year-old female named Anjalyn Lovendahl succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
