Tucson home invasion under investigation

On the morning of January 10, 2013, at approximately 10:03 a.m., Tucson Police Department officers responded to the report of a possible home invasion in the 2400 block of South Cottonwood Lane. When they arrived, officers witnessed several subjects leaving the residence in a vehicle.

The driver of that vehicle attempted to ram a marked patrol unit; however, no contact was made with the Officer’s vehicle. Officers followed the suspect vehicle and after a short pursuit, the vehicle stopped in an alley near the 100 block of West 30th Street. At least four individuals exited the vehicle.

One suspect was detained by Tucson Police officers and another was detained with the assistance of South Tucson Police Officers. It appeared that at least two of the suspects ran into the backyard of a nearby residence. After containing that residence, members from the Tucson Police Department’s SWAT Team responded and deployed diversionary devices. A suspect then exited the carport and was detained.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the suspects involved were armed. The investigation continues at this time to determine the identity of the suspects.
