Three women – two from Arizona and one, a Mexican national – were arrested Monday for attempting to smuggle more than seven pounds of heroin through the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry in Nogales, Ariz.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers selected a Jaguar sedan for further inspection and found six packages of heroin within a pair of suitcases. The vehicle and drugs were processed for seizure.
The three subjects are identified as Saniela Moncerratt Soloranzo-Flores, 20, of Nogales, Ariz.; Ana Guadalupe Carrillo-Villa, 19, of Tucson, Ariz.; and Silvia Santacruz, 25, a Mexican national/U.S. permanent resident of Nogales, Ariz. All three were referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
Individuals arrested may be charged by complaint, the method by which a person is charged with criminal activity, which raises no inference of guilt. An individual is presumed innocent unless and until competent evidence is presented to a jury that establishes guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
