Tucson Police seeking attempted sexual assault suspect

tucson-policeThe Tucson Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance with identifying an adult male suspect, who attempted to kidnap and sexually assault an adult female, on the evening of January 28, 2014.

At approximately 7:00 p.m., the adult female victim was beginning a workout on the Reid Park Exercise Path. As she entered the path, she was approached by an adult male suspect, who began making inappropriate comments about her physical appearance. The victim ignored the male and continued on with her exercise routine. As she was finishing her workout, she began walking back to her car and noticed the same male suspect riding on a black BMX style bicycle. The victim continued toward her vehicle but had to pass the suspect, who was then standing on the footbridge that she was crossing.

The suspect began making comments about her physical appearance again. As she attempted to walk around him, the suspect grabbed her by her shoulder and pulled her backward. The suspect then pulled the victim down the side of a drainage ditch and attempted to pull her into the drainage tunnel. The victim struggled with the suspect and was able to break free.

Police were notified, but they were unable to locate the suspect that evening. During the struggle, the victim was injured and had noticeable scratches to her face, neck and arms.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his 30’s, approximately 6’0” tall, 160 to 170 pounds, with red, unkempt hair and freckles. Anyone having information about the identity or whereabouts of the male suspect is urged to call 911 or 88-Crime. A composite sketch of the suspect is included below.
