Nogales CBP officers seize cocaine worth $243,000

A male Mexican national was arrested this week for attempting to smuggle nearly 27 pounds of cocaine through the Mariposa port of entry in Nogales, Ariz.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers selected a Ford sedan, driven by a 50-year-old legal resident of Nogales, Ariz., for further inspection. After a CBP narcotics detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs near the dash area, officers found 10 packages of cocaine in a non-factory compartment. The drugs, worth an estimated $243,000, and vehicle were processed for seizure.

The subject was referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
