On Saturday February 8, 2014 at 1:23 a.m., Tucson Police officers responded the 9700 block of in reference to a vehicle collision. A male caller told 911 operators that he was just involved in a collision. Upon arrival,no one was located at the residence and officers began circulating the area.
Police located the male caller near the intersection of South Krissy Avenue and East Vendela Street. They then located an adult female who had been struck by a vehicle on Krissy Avenue just south of Vendela Street. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives from the Traffic Investigations Unit responded to continue the investigation. They determined that the male caller, identified as 48-year old Todd Rounds, and the female victim, identified as 47-year old Donna Rounds were married. Mr. Rounds was driving his 2000 Ford F150 Pickup northbound on Krissy Avenue. The truck struck Mrs. Rounds in the northbound lanes of Krissy Avenue just south of Vendela Street. Mr. Rounds then drove the vehicle back to their nearby residence and contacted 911.
He was walking back towards the scene when officers located him. Detectives determined that Mr. Rounds was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. He was booked into the Pima County Jail for 1 count of 2nd Degree Murder.
