Former California congressman enters Arizona governor’s race

An Arizona businessman and former U.S. Congressman from California’s 1st Congressional District: Frank Riggs, touted his success in defeating Democratic candidates in a congressional district where Democrats enjoyed an almost 20-point registration advantage and a recent poll showing the Arizona governor’s race is up-for-grabs as reasons to enter the Arizona governor’s race.

The poll Riggs cites was done by Republican pollster Susquehanna Polling and Research and suggests that over half of voters are undecided and the race is a toss-up between whoever wins the Republican nomination and the presumed Democratic nominee.

“I twice defeated incumbent Democrats,” Riggs said. “And I did so while building a strongly conservative voting record that also appealed to independents and conservative (“Reagan”) Democrats.”

Riggs was the leader of the Gang of 7 that exposed the House Bank scandal and other congressional abuses, and a co-signer of the Contract With America. Co-author of the Congressional Accountability Act, which forced Congress to live under the same laws they impose on the American people.

Riggs was the author of the Charter School Expansion Act of 1998.

“I have the leadership experience and courage to make the tough decisions facing our state,” said Riggs.

While the republican race is full, moderate Doug Ducey has emerged as the front runner.
