cochise-county-rescueOn Tuesday February 18, 2014, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a man, who apparently had a heart attack near mile post 6 on Cascabel Road northwest of Benson.

The man calling advised that he and the victim had been in the mountains, when their vehicle got stuck. The caller advised that as the two were trying to get the vehicle out of the dirt/sand, the victim stated he wasn’t feeling well and collapsed. The caller advised that he could not get the victim to respond, and he had to hike to a high point to get cell service in order to make the emergency call.

Cochise County Search and Rescue personnel responded along with air support through DPS Ranger helicopter and located the man, who was deceased.

The victim was identified as 70-year-old Robert Moses of Tucson, who was transported to the Pima County Medical Examiner’s Office for the completion of an autopsy.

No foul play is suspected in this case, and the investigation is being continued pending the autopsy results.
