Pima County pedestrian fatally struck in driving lane

pedestrian-DeathOn February 19, 2014, at approximately 7:10 p.m., the Pima County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a pedestrian, who was hit by a vehicle near the intersection of Tetakusim Road and Sparrow Avenue. Deputies responded and found a 29-year-old male pedestrian in the road with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Department Traffic Unit responded to the scene and learned that the male was struck by a pickup truck while inside of the vehicle lane. The male, identified as William Marcus, was transported to a local trauma center for treatment and was subsequently pronounced deceased.

Investigators did not find the driver to be impaired. The driver, 21-year-old Jalissa Heck, was not cited. Any evidence of alcohol or drug use by the pedestrian will not be available until the forensic examination is completed by the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner.
