The Memorial Services for Detective John Hobbs have been scheduled for a visitation on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Surprise Funeral Care, 16063 W. Bell Road, in Surprise. His funeral is Monday, March 10, Christ’s Church of the Valley, in Peoria, Az.
On March 3rd, 2014, Detective Hobbs and Detective Albert “A.J.” Casados III were attempting to make contact with a violent suspect. Upon contact with the suspect, Detectives Hobbs and Casados became involved in a gun battle at which time Detective Hobbs was fatally wounded.
Detective Hobbs joined the Phoenix Police Department on October 22nd, 1992 and had just completed his twenty-first year.
Detective Hobbs is survived by his wife, Cathy, and their three children. During this incident, Detective Albert “AJ” Casados III was also wounded; A. J. is recovering from his injuries.
