On March 12th, 2014, a mother wrote to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office and asked for assistance in arresting her ex-spouse, Patrick G. Moloney, age 47, of San Tan Valley. According to the female, Patrick was $25,000 in arrears in back child support payments. She provided an address in the 30300 block of North Sunray, San Tan Valley, where he was possibly living.
According to the female, Patrick was planning on leaving town as soon as he got his tax refund check, as he knows he currently has an outstanding warrant issued by a judge from the Maricopa County Superior Court due to his failure to pay child support. The bond amount on the warrant was $10,000.
On March 13th, 2014, at 12:32 p.m., a PCSO sergeant and detective drove up to the home and observed Patrick inside of the garage smoking a cigarette. As soon as Patrick saw them, he ran into the residence and shut the garage door. The sergeant and detective knocked on the door, and it was learned from another person inside of the home that Patrick had run out the back of the residence and onto the golf course.
Employees from the Johnson Ranch Golf Course provided the sergeant and detective with a golf cart to check the course for Patrick. They began at the 18th hole and continued back towards the 1st hole. As they were driving, golfers kept notifying them of seeing Patrick running past them.
Patrick was out of breath when he was located on the 1st hole at which time he was taken into custody. He was booked into the Pinal County Jail for the outstanding Maricopa County Superior Court Warrant. At his initial appearance, the judge set his bond at a $10,000 “secured cash only bond.”
The female and her 14-year-old daughter were extremely excited about his arrest, and both expressed their appreciation to the Pinal County Sheriff’s office.
Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, “Patrick Moloney was ordered by a superior court judge to pay child support for his daughter. For years, the mother had to take this deadbeat dad back to court to try to get him to provide financial support for his now 16-year-old daughter. Patrick has two other children from a prior relationship which he has failed to pay child support for as well. Hopefully now that he is in custody, the judge will ensure he takes care of his court ordered financial responsibilities when he is released.”
