Pima County woman escapes burglar with aid of her walker

linarezOn March 25, 2014, at approximately 2:22 p.m., Pima County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a burglary in progress in the 5300 block of South Bonney Avenue. While en route, deputies learned a male forced entry into the residence of a 76-year-old female.

The victim was able to exit her residence with the aid of her walker and called 9-1-1 from her cordless phone. Deputies arrived minutes later and immediately surrounded the residence. The deputies made contact with the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Vincent Linarez, who was still inside. Linarez complied with the deputies commands, exited the residence and was taken into custody.

The Sheriff’s Department Burglary Unit responded and took over the investigation. Linarez was transported to the Pima County Adult Detention Center and booked on the following charges:
• Second Degree Burglary
• Theft
• Misdemeanor Warrant

• 2:22 p.m., victim calls 9-1-1 and deputies responds
• 2:31 p.m., deputies arrive and surround the residence
• 2:32 p.m., suspect is taken into custody
