On April 18, 2014, Tucson Police Department officers responded to the 1200 block of East Tucson Marketplace reference a carjacking call.
The victim told officers that she walked out of a department store heading towards her vehicle, when an unknown male began following her attempting to get her attention. The victim initially avoided him because she figured he was trying to solicit money from her.
She stated she could hear the male pick up his pace so she turned around. The male then demanded she give him her keys. He repeated his demands before pulling out a silver revolver. The victim gave her keys to the male fearing she would be shot. The male then got into the victims vehicle and fled the scene westbound out of the parking lot and then southbound onto Park Avenue.
An attempt to locate for the stolen vehicle was instantly broadcasted by Police Communications. The Tucson Police Air Support Unit sighted the vehicle and was able to navigate officers to the area of 33rd and 6th, where they conducted a high risk traffic stop. The suspect was detained without incident and was positively identified by the victim. The silver revolver was located with the suspect as well. He was arrested and transported to the Pima County Jail where he was booked reference Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Theft of means of Transportation, Possession of a Defaced Weapon, and Misconduct Involving a Weapon.
The victim’s vehicle was returned back to her.
