Homicide investigation of shooting at Food City continues

On Saturday, April 26, 2014, at approximately 9:56 p.m., Tucson Police Department responded to a shots fired call in the parking lot of the Food City grocery store, located at 2000 East Irvington Road. An adult male in the parking lot with obvious signs of gunshot trauma was tended to by officers until the Tucson Fire Department arrived on scene.

The gunshot victim was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased on arrival. His name is being withheld at this time pending next of kin notification.

Several people were in the parking lot when the shooting took place. A grey or silver Dodge Magnum was seen leaving the parking lot moments after the shooting. It is unknown if that vehicle is involved, but detectives are considering it as a vehicle of interest at this point. Detectives are still in the early stages of this investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
