Cochise County supervisor questioned about St. David helicopters

cochise-countyDear Editor,

Recently I wrote a letter to Cochise County Supervisor Searle regarding a Helicopter Base that was recently allowed to be built in Saint David. I would like to share it with your readers.

Dear Mr. Searle,

Warning, Huge predatory birds have been sighted in Saint David AZ!

Late last week, giant Whirlybirds were sighted along highway 80 in Saint David. These large noisy birds can be extremely dangerous when active, have blinding lights at night, may leave a toxic trail, and blinding dust in their wake. Don t go near them!

Whirlybirds are scavengers that prey on the weak and injured so they can feed government officials they keep in their nest.

Beware! Don’t allow the Whirlybirds to roost here!

The emperor has no clothes!

We asked you and Cochise County Planning and Zoning to provide legal proof of your authority to exempt this private property in Saint David from the planning and zoning process.

So far, you have provided, no documents, no notes, no leases, no contracts, nothing justifying your exemptions for this property and claim that none of these records exist explaining any of the reasoning for these exemptions in 2003 or in 2014. Knowing this, you still refuse to reconsider a bad decision and follow the law.

This exemption from zoning for a private business to locate a helicopter base in Saint David is a sham and unlawful and must be stopped.

You cannot be allowed to by-pass the public or the Planning and Zoning commission, or the FAA, or USDA, etc. under the guise of an “essential government service”.

We demand that you to follow the law, not skirt the law for the benefit of your friends.

We want this helicopter base shut down immediately and investigate who is responsible for this abuse of authority!

Furthermore, we want you to ensure that the public and the Planning and Zoning Commission are never again by-passed on any application.

May I suggest basing any helicopters in the future at the Benson Airport where they belong!

Sincerely,
Russ Williams
Resident
Saint David, AZ.
