On May 8, 2014, at 10:16 p.m., Tucson Police Department officers responded to a shooting in the 1200 block of East Lee Street. Officers located two adult males with obvious signs of gunshot trauma.
One of the subjects was identified as a 34 year-old male and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second individual, who is a 24 year-old male, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The suspect and both victims knew each other and were together at the residence. While inside the residence an altercation occurred between the suspect and one of the victims. That altercation continued outside of the residence where shots were fired by the suspect. Both victims were struck multiple times.
As detectives continued their investigation they were able to identify the shooter as 29 year-old Sonny Jean. Jean was booked into the Pima County Jail on one count of Second Degree Murder and one count of Aggravated Assault.
