Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents seized a cloned vehicle and flatbed trailer on Monday filled with more than 3,200 pounds of marijuana worth approximately $1.6 million in Douglas, Arizona. The flatbed truck displayed phony decals in an attempt to pose as a government vehicle.
Douglas Station agents working east of town, responded to reports of suspected smuggling activity and subsequently located a flatbed truck driving alongside the international boundary fence. Agents attempted to make contact with the driver but the vehicle came to a sudden halt and two subjects were observed fleeing south into Mexico. Agents then searched the fake U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service vehicle and found it loaded with bundles of marijuana in various hidden compartments.
The vehicle and drugs were processed for seizure in accordance with Tucson Sector guidelines.
Transnational criminal organizations use a variety of methods in their attempts to transport narcotics into our communities, according to the Bard Patrol.
