Grijalva demands answers, TUSD president denied access to children

grijalvaArizona Congressman Raul Grijalva and his daughter, Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) Governing Board president Adelita Grijalva claims they were denied a tour of Customs and Border Patrol’s (CBP) processing center for unaccompanied children arriving primarily from Central America. According to sources, Grijalva, a member of his staff, a member of Congressman Ron Barber’s staff had been approved.

Grijalva did not notify CBP that he would be bringing his clan members.

The Grijalva’s never miss an opportunity to bring attention to themselves or use and abuse government resources to further their political agenda.

Grijalva said the “tour was intended to shed light on a facility whose operation has raised broad concerns for the safety and well-being of vulnerable children. Being turned away only invites more questions about the appropriateness of this process, instead of providing answers.”

According to sources in the failing school district the younger Grijalva oversees, she had hoped to “see what resources the District could offer the children.”

“We need to know the extent to which officials are properly using the resources available within the community,” said the elder Grijalva. “Trust in this process is essential, and forbidding community leaders who work with the immigrant community and understand the needs of these children will raise skepticism about the process.

“This is more than a plea for mercy from the most vulnerable among us – it is a moment that will define who we are as Americans for generations still to come. I have no intention of sitting by while the federal government creates a humanitarian crisis in our own backyard.”

Rep. Grijalva’s follows the motto, ‘Never let a good crisis go to waste,’ took the opportunity to bolster unsubstantiated claims that the children are being subjected to substandard living conditions.
